BUILDING BRIDGES
The YMCA's annual Building Bridges Campaign is our principal means of asking the communities we serve to help us make our services available to those who cannot afford to pay. Your tax deductible gift will make it possible for us to:
- send homeless and low-income children to overnight camp;
- lower the cost of day care for a working parent;
- provide instruction for the physically challenged;
- help people achieve economic self-sufficiency;
- support area food banks;
- provide free meals to children who need them;
- care for children before and after school;
- counsel teens to stay in school and off drugs;
- provide our wellness programs and social services to everyone regardless of ability to pay;
- and more.
Last year the partnership between area companies, foundations, organizations, private citizens, and the YMCA made it possible for us to invest over $2 million in day care, after-school, and wellness programs for children in need. Click here to view the Building Bridges Campaign brochure.
Join the Team
This year, the Building Bridges Campaign has taken on the theme of "Join the Team" with the help of Comcast Sportsnet Anchor Chick Hernandez and Fox Channel 5 Sports Anchor Lou Holder. As Co-Chairs of our 2006 Building Bridges Campaign, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington hopes to exceed its goal of $1.5 million with their support. Won't you "join the team" by making your contributions today?
Bridge Goal Update
As of May 2006, our members, donors, and friends have helped the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington raise $756,538 putting us at 50 percent of our goal of $1.5 million.
Kids-to-Camp
Every year thousands of children in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia have the opportunity to experience a summer full of instruction, relaxation, and exploration through camp. But due to financial difficulties, many children will not be able to participate in summer camp. That is why the generosity and support of donors like you are so important.
