Meditation, Essence & Charity Saturday, April 4th, 2:00-3:30pm
Meditation draws from Taoist practices of circulating energy to nourish the body and spirit, leaving you calmer and more alert. When the mind leads energy along pathways in the body, your body responds with regenerative activity and extended youthfulness.
Using mindful breathing and self-massaging techniques during the session, we will focus energies to promote well-being, allow the body to rest and reset, and help ease the stress of a busy life. *Bring a blanket and cushions for your comfort.

Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.
From traditional to specialty, here are the camp programs we are offering at our Y branches across the region. Be sure to sign up early (before space runs out in your camper's favorite program!).
Our Spring 2 Session begins Monday, April 20th, and we're offering programs for all ages and interests. From kids to teens to adults to family, YMCA Silver Spring will help your whole family get active! Here's what we have lined up:
Boot Camp Blast - Sundays at 8:30am
Better Balance - Wednesdays & Fridays at 11:30am
Salsa - Fridays at 6pm
Family Dance Class - Sundays at 5pm
Kids Yoga (ages 5-12) - Sundays at 10:30am
Teen Strength Training - Mondays & Wednesdays at 4:30pm

free swim lessons for families who qualify
Swim lessons not only keep kids safe in the water, they can also be the first step in building confidence, social skills and healthy living. We are excited to learn your child wants to swim! Through the generosity of Shannon’s Fund, a scholarship opportunity named in memory of Shannon Hawkins (one of our beloved aquatics instructors), we are able to provide free swim lessons for youth and teens between the ages of 6 and 17. In order to qualify for the funds, recipients must have little to no swimming skills and demonstrate a financial need.
