For the second year in a row, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington has partnered with the University of Phoenix to award 10 full-tuition four-year scholarships to deserving individuals as part of the First Chance Scholarship Program. The partnership allows us to provide this unbelievable opportunity to our staff, members, volunteers, and community. One of the recipients stated,
“It is tough going back to school as an adult, but I am working hard to be successful for my family. I am very grateful to the YMCA and University of Phoenix for this amazing opportunity.”
We are humbled and honored to be part of this program, and thrilled to be working with the University of Phoenix again to award these life transforming scholarships. We will be accepting applications beginning June 1, 2009. The deadline for all applications will be August 14, 2009.

The First Chance Scholarship Program is open to:
a. Parents
b. Adult college students
c. Exceptional teenagers or young adults
Applications outline the eligibility criteria. Please remember that applications must be completely filled out. The program is open for both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees, which is new this year.
