Volunteer Thank You

The YMCA's Thingamajig Invention Convention is an eco-friendly invention competition with a "Green and Lean" power source: sponsors and volunteers.

More than 150 volunteers from local businesses and organizations served as judges, activity leaders and assistants during this year's 15th annual convention. Our generous sponsors provided the funding and in-kind support that helped us make Thingamajig bigger, leaner and greener. These dedicated community servants helped more than 3,000 children learn about protecting the environment, while applying math and science skills.

Standing in the center of The Show Place Arena during Thingamajig, it is simply amazing to watch the power of imagination, to hear the sounds of creativity and to feel the energy of inventors at work. Here is what a few of our volunteers had to say about the appeal of Thingamajig:
