Fit & Well Seniors is more than a wellness program for aging DC-area residents—it's a social club where the participants just happen to work up a sweat.
In celebration of Janice Williams 40 years of service with the YMCA, please donate $40 in her honor, and to help her continue her great work with her cherished program, Fit & Well Seniors.
This unique program caters to the needs of DC seniors, many of whom are widowed, living on a modest income and have limited access to activities. Launched in 2010 in partnership with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, this program helps seniors find movement and vitality—all free of charge. In 2015, the program had over 5,000 participants. They've boogied on the National Mall, hiked area parks, and hosted pie and chili competitions—because life is all about balance.
We are proud to celebrate the career and accomplishments of Ms. Williams, Senior Vice President of Program Development. Ms.Williams contributions to the Y are many; her career spans from being one of the former Executive Directors for Anthony Bowen to Vice President. Ms. Williams sees the potential in all people—from infants to seniors—and has created a wide range of Y programs to meet the needs of these populations.
