Nutrition is at the heart of a healthy lifestyle. It affects our energy, our stress, the impact of exercise and our ability to think clearly. But all too many don’t know where to start. The Y is here to help!

Our culinary studio at YMCA Anthony Bowen is the home of inspired cooking – from special interest to seasonal to basic cuisines! Whether you're looking for a unique date night, girl's night out, a better understanding of nutrition or more freedom and confidence in the kitchen, our cooking classes are just the answer.

Kristy McCarron, the Y's Healthy Eating Specialist, has designed and invited guest chefs for fun and easy-to-follow classes for cooks of all abilities. Sharpen (or start!) your culinary skills in an entertaining and relaxed environment.

Cooking the Book with the Georgian Table: Samarakand
Tues., Oct. 18 @ 7pm-9pm
Cost: $30 for members; $40 for non-members


Jenny Holm, founder of The Georgian Table, will be cooking us through the best-selling cookbook "Samarakan"--a book that explores the flavors of Central Asia. 

A Taste of African Heritage--Tubers & Stews
Thurs., Oct. 20 @ 6:30pm-8:30pm
Cost: $15 for members; $20 for non-members


Fall means one thing: warming stews that are healthy and comforting. In this cooking series that explores the flavors and cuisines of Africa, we're whipping up tubers (root veggies) and stews from this region. 

From the Farmer in the Kitchen: Thanksgiving Inspiration
Tues., Oct. 25 @ 7pm-9pm
Cost: $25 for members; $25 for non-members


Leave the canned cranberry sauce at the door: It's time to elevate your Thanksgiving. Working with a local chef, we'll walk you through how fun tips and tricks to prepare memorable Thanksgiving dishes great for any table. Bonus, we'll get you through the holiday cooking anxiety free.

Thurs., Oct. 27 @ 6:30pm-8:30pm
Cost: $15 for members; $20 for non-members


We're wrapping up this unique series of cooking classes with one final lesson dedicated to fruits and vegetables. This class will explore cooking techniques of Africa, and bring the flavors of the region to fruits and veggies.
