Adventure Sampler

Allow our experienced instructors to lead your camper in exciting high adventure activities!  Your child will experience the feeling of a real team as group members support one another through various outdoor challenges. Each session offers a different mixture of outdoor adventure activities. Outdoor Adventure Sampler a include a mixture of all outdoor adventure activities.

Appalachian Adventure (Arlington)

Tackle the Maryland section of the stunning Appalachian Trail on a 2 night overnight trip. Prepare and plan on Monday and Tuesday before departing Wednesday on this adventure.

Aqua Adventure

Just what it sounds like! This camp features different water activities every day. Possible excursions include tubing, kayaking, sailing and a two-day, one-night canoe trip.

Battlefield Blitz (at Ayrlawn PC)

Awaken your inner adventurer & discover the wonders of Local Battlefields. Campers compete in scavenger hunts, explore nature trails & nearby historic parks. You’ll learn about battlefields and so many other historic elements!

Bug Talks & Critter Walks (at Ayrlawn PC)

Children explore the outdoors and search for nature’s fascinating creatures. Through forest walks, trips to aquariums, zoos, and other natural locations, campers develop a better understanding of the natural world.

Camp Kirkwood

Camp Kirkwood offers special emphasis on outdoor recreation, reconnecting kids with nature and bringing back a sense of adventure to the outdoor experience. Campers will experience fun and exciting outdoor activities that may include teambuilding, low ropes, water activities, hiking, sports, nature crafts, fishing, archery, climbing, swimming and water activities, nature centers and programs, scouting skills and survival techniques, outdoor cooking, storytelling, swimming and more. An optional overnight experience (2 days, 1 night) will be offered during weeks 2,4,6, and 8 for those who choose to participate. Leadership skill development, team-building activities, and creative, interactive programs are offered to campers by caring young adult role models at a local or regional park each week. Calendars with specific locations and activities will be provided on the first day of each session.

Hiking Explorers (at Ayrlawn PC)

Allow our experienced instructors to lead your camper in exciting high adventure activities!  Your child will experience the feeling of a real team as group members support one another through various outdoor challenges.  For the child that likes to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground, Hiking Explorers is the perfect camp.

Lake Fairfax Camp

Enjoy a summer full of sun and fun outdoor experiences. The camp days are loaded with activities that may include: hiking, fishing, creeking, swimming at the Watermine Water Park, crafts, and more.

Nature Camp at Highroad

Camp Highroad provides youngsters with firsthand experience with nature through trail walks, field games, archery, canoeing, ropes courses, hay rides, storytelling, swimming and much more! The zip line for 10 years and up is also a weekly activity. Campers gain perspectives about themselves, learn about interacting respectfully with others, and discover that they play an important role in protecting the environment.

Outdoor Adventure (at Ayrlawn PC)

Our experienced instructors will lead your camper in exciting high adventure activities! All of our counselors are 21 or older and are required to complete over 75 hours of outdoor adventure training each year. Your child will experience the feeling of a real team as group members support one another through various outdoor challenges. Campers are offered on a weekly schedule; however the activities will build in intensity and excitement over a two week period. If you would like your child to experience all of the adventure offerings please sign them up for two weeks. Activities will include: Rock Climbing and Rappelling, Canoeing, White Water Tubing, Hiking, High Ropes Challenge Course, and many more high adventure experiences. *Due to the nature of these activities, please contact 301.576.9080 to speak with the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator if your child has any special needs that may limit full participation in camp.

Outdoor Adventure (Reston)

Join us this summer as we travel around the Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland area as we visit all of the outdoor excitement the area has to offer. This camp is for the nature and adventure lover!

Outdoor Day Camp at Lake Fairfax Park

Outdoor Discovery

Campers will discover the “great outdoors” through hands-on experiences in the outdoor world, including hiking, paddling, swimming and building sand castles, and going on treetop adventures! Activities subject to change due to weather.

Pony Camp

An introduction to riding basics, horse care, and responsibility taught in a safe and fun environment! Campers will go to the stables for 2 hours each day to learn what it’s like to care for and ride their own horse. Riders will learn basic horse care skills, such as grooming, hoof cleaning, tack care, barn chores and how to maintain the well-being of horses, while learning to be safe around the barn. The emphasis of this camp is on safety and respect for the horse and his care.  Campers will ride each day and beginners will learn basic position on the horse, including steering and control with individual attention while riding. As an introductory camp, the riding is taught by an experienced instructor with riders on the horse one at a time. The instructor stays with the child while on the horse and helps him/her maintain proper position while guiding the horse. Campers are organized into groups of no more than 6 and rotate 30 minute stations: grooming, riding, horse chores and a craft activity teaching horse care.  Please wear the following: Long pants, sturdy boots (or sneakers) and a riding helmet. Riders may borrow a helmet from the stables if they don’t have one. Additional registration form and waiver form is required for all campers participating in the Horseback Riding Camp!

Rock Climbers Delight (at Ayrlawn PC)

Our experienced outdoor instructors will lead your camper in high adventure activities. Rock Climbers Delight weeks are all about climbing and exploring the cliffs and boulders of this area.

The Great Outdoors

Campers will go on daily outdoor adventures in and around parkS. Campers should be prepared for lots of hiking and sightseeing and should be able to walk for extended periods of time. Campers will explore nature, go on scavenger hunts and much more.

Tracks and Trails Trip Camp

Campers will visit local nature centers and hike different trails in Northern Virginia and Maryland. Objects in nature, birds and animals will be the focus of this exciting camp. Campers should be prepared for lots of hiking and sightseeing.
