To help close the achievement gap for under-resourced youth, the YMCA Benchmarks program at Silver Creek Middle School provides:
- Homework assistance
- Books and school supplies
- Enrichment activities
- Life skills development
- Family wellness activities
- Volunteer service projects
- Family and peer counseling
- Connections to additional service providers
Benchmarks currently serves 35 students from 6th-8th grade who have IEPs (individualized education plans) and whose family income levels qualify them for free and reduced-priced meals.
Beyond Silver Creek Middle School students, the program also serves children from:
- Greater Rosemary Hills/Lynttonsville Community
- Silver Spring
- Southern Montgomery County
