To reduce violence at home, schools, and in the community, the YMCA’s Family Strengthening and Intervention Pilot Program helps families with youth experiencing serious mental health or behavioral challenges, and those who have been exposed to violence or gang activity.
Our Care Coordinators visit families at home to:
- Connect families with external supports
- Bridge service gaps of families with children who are involved with gangs
- Strengthen family connections and well-being
- Provide holistic one on one mentoring, parenting, and skill-building for families
We serve families in:
- Wheaton
- Silver Spring
- Germantown
- Montgomery Village
Families volunteer for this program and participate free of charge.
