Youth and Family Services Community Impact

For at-risk kids, childhood isn’t fun and games, so the Y is here to help.

At the Y, our dedication to the health and safety of children extends well beyond early learning, after school care, and sports.

Funded in part by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, we provide children and families in need with wrap-around support, mental health services, family counseling, and crisis intervention.

Working in communities, schools, and families’ homes, the Y supports families that are low-income, undocumented, newly arrived, or otherwise in need of assistance. Our after-school programs provide valuable academic enrichment, recreation, and mentoring to students who might otherwise fall behind in school and struggle to lead healthy and productive lives.

We help children on the verge of being removed from their homes, those with mental or behavioral challenges, those exposed to violence, those in foster care, newcomers, and those who’ve lacked access to education.

The Y’s mental health, case management, mentoring, and youth development staff provide counseling, care, access to community resources, and after-school programs to help families overcome challenges no one should have to face alone.

Youth and Family Services currently serves residents in Montgomery County, MD, but we are actively seeking to expand our impact to other areas.
