Endless Opportunities to Explore, Learn & Create

Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.

From traditional to specialty, here are the camp programs we are offering at our Y branches across the region. Be sure to sign up early (before space runs out in your camper's favorite program!).

Summit to Engage DC Families in the Great Outdoors
Thurs., May 28th, 10am-12pm
YMCA Anthony Bowen, Washington, DC

In collaboration with the National Park Service, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington has be selected to participate in the Play, Learn, Serve & Work Initiative proposed by the Department of Interior. Join other youth-serving and outdoor-focused organizations on May 28, 2015 at 10am for a working summit to kick-off the District of Columbia's community-wide effort to engage youth and adults in service on our public lands.
If your organization shares a common vision of connecting children, youth and families with the outdoors through recreation, education, and/or service, we want to hear your thoughts! By working together, we have the opportunity to engage our wider community on public lands.

Goals of the Summit:
  • Develop a shared community vision
  • Foster relationships
  • Celebrate existing opportunities for recreation, education and/or service outdoors
  • Create a plan for further engagement and collaboration
  • Set a community-wide goal for how to mobilize 10,000-20,000 volunteers in service on public lands
We're honored to work with you to grow this movement in the District of Columbia. Click here to register for this summit!
