Child Development Center

To serve the 60,000 DC residents who do not have a high school diploma, Goodwill of Greater Washington created the Goodwill Excel Center—an adult charter school to enable them to achieve their academic goals.

Understanding that many of these students have childcare needs, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington partnered with Goodwill to create the Child Development Center, a free, on-site and drop-in childcare center open to students. This is part of the new school’s dedication to a work-life balance.

At the Child Development Center, children ages six weeks to five years will experience new, state-of-the-art classrooms and work with well-trained and qualified teachers.

Classes began at the Goodwill Excel Center in August 2016 at 1776 G St. NW, Washington DC.
