Around the world in 5 days! We’ll be learning all about different regions, people and their customs from all over the world through arts/crafts, group games and science activities. We may even ask families to bring in items that represent their own cultures.
Hooray for the red, white & blue! Explore the US and celebrate our beautiful nation at camp this week! This week will be filled with stars and stripes galore with a little bit of geography and patriotic activities thrown in.
STEM shapes our everyday experiences and is designing our future—our Thingamajig camp opens doors to strategic thinking and creative expression by challenging children to invent solutions to everyday problems using only what can be re-purposed around them. This is a very special week as our campers will be invited to attend the 26th Annual YMCA Thingamajig Invention Convention—a one of a kind STEM-based gathering where youth and community partners come together to learn, explore, experiment, and discover.
Explore the jungle and come face to face with leopards, tucans, and spider monkeys… Okay, not really face-to-face, but come learn about all the cool animals hidden in the jungle while doing lots of animal crafts, playing jungle games, and most importantly making tons of friends at camp!
The greatest adventure is in our backyards, but mother nature has some weird rules. Moss only grows on the Northside of the tree but that rule only applies in the northern hemisphere–in the southern hemisphere, moss mostly grows on the south sides of trees. What other rules will we find out?
How big are a Great White’s jaws? What is the smallest known shark species? Let’s find out when TVs must-watch event of the summer comes to Y camp! We will learn shark fun facts, how we can protect these ocean predators, create crafts and play shark games.
