YMCA Silver Spring Sports & Dance Camps

ARCHERY

YMCA Archery Camp is led by USA Archery certified instructors. This target archery program is for the beginner to intermediate archer primarily focusing on safety, stance and grip, aim. We spend the first day of every session orienting campers to safety rules and expectations. Throughout the week we will work on our form and accuracy following a progression of games-based practice sessions.

BALLET/MODERN

This introductory camp ballet/modern promotes coordination, balance, correct body alignment, and grace. This class is a fun introduction to dance for young students. Comfortable clothes needed that allow for freedom of movement. Campers get approximately 2 hours of instruction daily mixed in with group games, arts, & crafts and everything else children love about camp! Parents are invited to a Friday showcase each session to see what our ballerinas learned throughout the week.

BASKETBALL

Campers will spend part of the day learning and practicing basketball fundamentals: dribbling, shooting, passing, fast breaks, ball handling, and the importance of teamwork. Each day campers will scrimmage.

CHEER & STEP

Campers will spend the day in a high-energy environment for aspiring cheerleaders and steppers. Campers learn fun, fast-paced routines and cheers while gaining increased confidence and self-esteem.

DANCE

Dance camp is appropriate for all levels and incorporates step learning and then integration into more complex dance moves. Dance camp helps experienced dancers as well as those who are new to dance deepen their understanding and choreography. By learning about dance techniques, choreography and methodology, campers will be able to put on a small dance show on Friday afternoons for the camp and parents!

FLAG FOOTBALL

All the fun of football without the worry of contact. Campers will learn the fundamentals and improve skills in the morning while scrimmaging and making new friends in the afternoon.

YOGA

Learn the art of being mindful. Lessons include stretches and poses that strengthen the mind and body. Each day is designed with different positions in mind. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of expression.

SOCCER

Soccer camp will allow campers to take their dribbling, passing, shooting to a new level. Teamwork and strategies on how best to play as well as introduce fun new versions of this sport. Activities include individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games and coached scrimmages. Please bring cleats and shin guards.

SPORTS FESTIVAL

Lace up those sneakers, put on your shorts; it’s time to have a ball with an assortment of sports. We’ve got the FUNdamentals of your favorite sports covered in this safe, pressure-free arena, so come on in and try them out!

T-BALL

Learn the basics of baseball and softball with the Y’s T-Ball camp. The program gives your children the skills they will need to enjoy the sport for a lifetime! Your child will learn how to throw, catch, field and hit correctly, and the positions of the game.

TENNIS CAMP

At YMCA Tennis Camp, our certified tennis coaches help campers learn and improve their skills on-court, while creating lasting friendships and memories. Your child will learn the fundamentals of the game through drills, games, and friendly competition adapted to age and skill level while practicing sportsmanship in a safe and fun environment.
