Adult Swim Lessons
If you’re an adult that has never learned to swim, you are not alone! Lots of adults learn to swim at the YMCA under the patient and skillful direction of YMCA aquatics professionals. Enjoy learning with others, or one-on-one lessons to work at your own pace. Once you learn to swim, you’ll never feel unsafe around water, and you can enjoy the many physical benefits regular swimming can provide.
ADULT STROKE CLINIC (MASTER)
A class for serious adult swimmers who would like to compete in triathlons or swimming events or just improve endurance and stroke mechanics. All participants will improve skills while maintaining good health.
This kind of workout relies on the resistance, buoyancy and gentle movement of water to increase flexibility, balance and strength.
FIT ‘N’ WELL LEVEL 1
For people who have a fear of the water or have never taken a swimming lesson. Water adjustment, kicking, arm strokes and confidence in deep water are emphasized.
FIT ‘N’ WELL LEVEL 2
For people who can swim a short distance in shallow water with their faces in the water. Emphasis is on refining basic strokes and confidence in deep water.
FIT ‘N’ WELL LEVEL 3
For those comfortable in deep water who want to improve their form and learn new strokes. Emphasis is on building endurance and mastering skills.
FIT ‘N’ WELL LEVEL 4
For people who can swim a length or two of several strokes. Emphasis is on building skills and endurance for swimming as a physical activity.
LOW-IMPACT WATER AEROBICS
Low impact water aerobics involve rhythmic, continuous movements that exercise large muscle groups. Aerobics improve your endurance and cardiovascular health. This aerobic level includes controlled arm and leg movements. Check with your doctor prior to starting any exercise program.

For adults looking to add intensity to their swimming routine. This class offers a full body workout, focusing on muscle groups.
An advanced stroke technique class for adults who want to improve
efficiency, strength, and endurance in the pool. This course is great for anyone who wants to improve their lap swimming ability, including
triathletes and athletes.
Specialized Aqua Wellness
Whether you are an expert swimmer looking for training help, or you are ready to experience your first time in the water, we have a class for you! Our qualified instructors teach basic to advanced skills, and swimmers will find a community of support in our Y classes.ADULT II
For people who can swim the length of the pool with floatation devices and/or fins.
A program designed for serious adult swimmers who would like to compete in triathlons, or improve endurance and stroke mechanics to maintain good health.
PRE/POST NATAL WATER WORKOUT
Feel great exercising throughout your pregnancy while relieving stress, as well as, gaining strength and endurance. Attention is placed on muscle groups used in childbirth. This unique program combines water and land exercise, offering a balanced workout. Physician permission slips required.
Advanced stroke technique for those who want to improve efficiency, strength, and endurance.
WATER AEROBICS FOR ARTHRITIS
This class is designed to increase strength, flexibility, and joint mobility for those with arthritis or similar problems.
WATER AEROBICS FOR SENIORS
Water aerobics combined with length swimming, stretching, toning, flexibility and range of motion exercises.
Certificates and Training
With so many life-threatening emergencies happening in or around the home, it’s more important than ever to be prepared just in case you’re confronted with a home emergency. Being prepared can avert tragedy and minimize the possibility of injury or even death. The YMCA offers an array of courses designed to help you become prepared for life-threatening emergencies. Be a part of creating a healthier, better prepared community by signing up for one of our emergency preparedness classes.CPR FOR THE COMMUNITY
Certification through American Safety and Health Institute.
Participants will receive training for infant, child, and adult CPR. Certifications are valid for two years. Participants must be least 16 years old. This course is open to all members of the community.
RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
1. This is an American Red Cross certification class. Certification, once completed, is valid for two years
2. Please bring PHOTO ID
3. Must be at least 15 years of age
4. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
5. Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs
6. Swim 20 yards, surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 9 feet to retrieve a brick
YMCA LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
1. This is a lifeguard class through the YMCA of the USA. Certification valid for two years.
2. Must be at least 16 years of age before the last day of the class.
3. Must complete eLearnings prior to the first day.
4. Must complete a swim test prior to the first day.
Water Fitness Classes
Take to the water for fun and fitness! We offer a variety of Aquatic Exercise programs for all fitness levels—and you don’t have to be a swimmer to participate! The programs—which take place mainly in the shallow water—range from joint range of motion classes to high-intensity aerobic classes. Exercising in the water provides a challenging workout in a near weightless and zero impact environment.AQUA AEROBIC II
Aqua aerobics in deep water. Floatation belts used and provided. Use of noodles, dumbells, barbells for resistance training.
AQUA BOOT CAMP
The most intense aerobics classes we offer uses body sculpting, interval training, and aqua kick. They combine strength training and aerobic conditioning with water resistance to give you an awesome overall body workout.
