YMCA Loudoun County Traditional Camps

Our Traditional Camps thrill campers and spark a sense of wonder with classic outdoor games, inspired arts and crafts, and inventive STEM activities all day long. Water days and/or pool time ensure campers can beat the heat or build their aquatics skills. And every Friday, campers and their families can look forward to an exciting celebration of kids’ achievements that week! 

WEEK 1: SUMMER CELEBRATION

Its summer time and that means it is time to celebrateCome have a summer bash at the Y during this week of party games, water fun, and activitiesEnd the week with a huge party to celebrate the start of summer!  Note: We will be closed June 19th in observance of the holiday.

WEEK 2: RED, Y, & BLUE

Our country has a wide blend of many peoples, cultures and regions that makes us unique in the world. Learn about different aspects of our country from coast to coast and what makes us unique and great! Note: We will be closed July 4th in observation of the holiday.

WEEK 3: MOOVIN’ & GROOVIN’

Campers will dance, move, and play through a mix of large and small group games, rhythm-based activities, and team challenges that keep bodies in motion and spirits high. The fun continues with hands-on arts & crafts and engaging STEM projects inspired by music, movement, and patterns. Designed to build confidence, cooperation, and creativity, Moovin’ & Groovin’ is the perfect blend of active play and imaginative exploration—where every camper can move to their own beat.

WEEK 4: JUMPING JUNGLE

What’s that hiding behind the bush that is so cleverly camouflaged? What’s that sound? Come learn about the cool animals that make the jungle their habitat and, these creatures need to eat. The jungle habitat is an awesome place with many ecosystems coexisting. Using animal crafts, jungle-themed games and other resources, campers will learn about animal conservation, ecosystems and habitats.

WEEK 5: IT’S A THINGAMAJIG 

STEM shapes our everyday experiences and is designs our future. Our Thingamajig camp opens doors to strategic thinking and creative expression by challenging children to invent solutions to everyday problems using only what can be re-purposed around them. This is a very special week as our Junior and Senior campers will be invited to attend the Annual YMCA Thingamajig Invention Convention—a one of a kind STEM-based gathering where youth and community partners come together to learn, explore, experiment, and discover  

WEEK 6: UNDER THE SEA

Sabastian new what he meant when he said…”Look at the world around you… right here on the ocean floor!”  Kids can dive in to their love of sea animals and plants, while learning about how they can help protect the oceans.    

WEEK 7: OUTER SPACE

Campers will blast off into a week of imagination, discovery, and adventure! Campers will explore the wonders of the universe through hands-on STEM experiments, creative arts & crafts, and exciting large and small group games inspired by planets, rockets, and astronauts. Team challenges and active play keep minds & bodies moving while curiosity soars, as campers learn to collaborate, problem-solve, and think like real space explorers. It’s an out-of-this-world camp experience where creativity, science, and fun align among the stars.

WEEK 8: AROUND THE WORLD

Around the world in 5 days!   Campers are immersed in different cultures and customs as they explore  games and crafts from other countries, and meet new friends around the globe in a virtual cultural exchange.  

As precipitation continues, and states of emergency are still in effect, in addition to many means of transportation limited, all YMCA facilities will open at 12 p.m. on Monday, January 26th.
